ECG capabilities aren’t new to consumer wearables; however, approval for these tools is not always easy. The arrival of a validated app to the Garmin ecosystem is a major addition to an already powerful platform. Eligible users can access the app immediately to record on-demand ECG readings right on the wrist. After thirty seconds, the app will display the heart rhythm results.
Most importantly, the app analyzes users’ results for health concerns such as early signs of AFib. If synced with Garmin Connect, the app will also provide users with a history of their ECG App recordings. These can then be shared with medical professionals from the smartphone app.
For now, the Kansas-based company has announced that the ECG App is available to users in the US only. It is also only accessible on the Venu 2 Plus.
